Size: The Advance 5200 is actually smaller than the Advance 4600
in terms of the main broom path. The 5200 has a 31.5" main broom
compared to the 4600's 34" main broom. Your choice may be influenced
by the need to keep the side brooms up in very dusty applications.
(Both machines have side brooms with no dust control.)
Larger than its' "cousin" the Advance 1100, it still offers the same design
advantages seen with front positioned operators. But the high dump
hopper will allow you to dump into portable dump carts instead of having to
manually pick up the dumped debris like with the 1100.
Design: This "over throw" sweeper design is excellent for
warehouse applications where light debris such as pallet chips, paper tags,
and plastic "peanuts" are prevalent. It has a litter flap design that
lifts off of the floor when the operator steps on a pedal in the operator
compartment. This allows access to the broom chamber for larger items
and light debris.
"over throw" versus the "forward throw" design
Light debris can often be trapped in front of the hopper flaps on the
"forward throw" design seen on the Advance 6250 and 4600. It is common
for the operator to try to find rough spots on the floor to create enough
friction to get this debris into the broom chamber. Counter balancing
this is the forward throw design's ability to "shoot" heavy sand and rocks
straight, (and effectively), into the hopper rather than over the top of the
main broom. (overthrow system)
